I think what triggered it was the Boy and the Girl leaving together to look at the fireflies, holding hands. The Strange Man and the Boy were only tolerating each other because of the Girl, and the Strange Man got the impression that she was favoring him after she petted his head; she now went off with the Boy, hence the display of possessiveness and, presumably, the need to "mark" her as his own. In any case, looks like that knife sure came in handy. |

| Best chapter so far. The strange guy didn't intended anything bad probably, but got overwhelmed with emotions and had zero self-control... leading to what happened; Really nicely captured the animal instinct of human. |

| I think the saddest part about this chapter was that I knew the boy's gut feelings were right and that the old man would end up doing that. |
