I think bringing him back would do a disservice to the show him dying in the 3rd episode is ment to shock the viewer and get them in the headsspace that anyone can die, also the main theme of the story is the perseverance of humanity and what it means to leave a legacy bringing him back would undermine all of that

this is a story about heliocentrism. it does not care about the characters, as long as the final objective is completed. people just die and pass the torch to someone else, bringing him back would completely ruin the atmosphere that this anime created

I absolutely agree with you but it doesn't change the fact that till the very end of the second Arc (even though I knew it doesn't make much sense) there was that little voice in my head hoping for someone to reveal Badeni as an older version of Rafal :v Those two just looked too similar for me not to try making connections ://

I'm glad it didn't happen tho as it would undoubtedly take away from the show

buuuut... on the other hand I wouldn't be mad if the studio would make some kind of special with more Rafal<3

I’m surprised that Oczy has managed to outlive Rafael by 13 episodes.

The opening has one misleading scene where a young man is standing and it transits to Rafal in the same position, it made me think he was gonna turn out to be alive, but how many years do you think have passed since he died? Even if he was alive somehow he'd be an oldman by now and no one really wants that.
Now the next episode's thumbnail on Netflix has Rafal on it, so maybe we'll have a flashback of him, maybe Potocki will come back and help with heliocentrism, or maybe it's just a random thumbnail? Either way I'm sure Rafal is long dead.

Don't call Rafal dead when his conviction is still alive.

He may have died, but his will; that is, heliocentrism lives on.

He was only 12 years-old when he died in custody and then there was a 10 year time skip and much more recently within the past several episodes, a 25 year timeskip. So it's only been around 35 years in total since then, meaning he would only be around 47 years-old.

I'm not saying that he's likely to still be alive somewhere (as, say, Jolenta and Nowak were all these years unbeknownst to the other) in hiding or anything like that, and I don't think that he is, but just that if he had somehow survived what had happened in episode three or there was some twist pertaining to that like the body burned after his self-inflicted drugging/poisoning was swapped out and someone else's or something outlandish like that, then it's not as if he would be 100 years-old or have died from age-related illness.

so far I LOVED the rafal arc and the oczy/ badeni arc was also really good. Draca still has to show me some more to get to the same level as the other 2

Not coming back, the story has been really clear stating the concept is passing the will of the heliocentrism. He ignited all of what it is to come, whil it would be awesome his sacrifice started it all.

@WatchTillTandava Man no need to over explain, I got what you're trying to say from the first sentence lol.
Maybe he wouldn't be that old but he'd be old enough that he's a completely different character, so even if the writer chose to bring him back as fanservice it'd be pointless.
